FSAA Performance

Juding from the results, FSAA performance of the GeForce3 is very impressive. The results of Quincunx FSAA are very impressive and the performance hit is just small compared to 4X FSAA. Quincunx FSAA now makes use of the Multi-Sampling method instead of the older Super Sampling method of FSAA. Combine this FSAA method with the new memory architecture of the GeForce3, FSAA is now a viable option for gamers. A big improvement in visual quality with a tolerable performance hit. Since Quincunx FSAA has a smaller performance hit than 4X FSAA, we now ask: which one looks better?

Quake III Quincunx FSAA

Quincunx FSAA overall looks better and smoother than the traditional 4X Super Sampling method. Quincunx FSAA produces smoother and softer images overall with a smaller performance loss compared to 4X FSAA.
