Introduction:
Not
all of us play on a low-profile system. Some of
us play on high end systems. Some of us have a
different interpretation of what's fast and what's
not. Some of us can afford, and some cannot...

This
time around, we'll see how the GeForce2 Ultra
performs in the same set of cpu's as the GeForce2
MX in the first CPU
Scaling Guide. We all know that the GeForce2
Ultra will make any system shine but there're
times when all its power is just wasted. This
aim has the same purpose as before...to show the
ideal processor for the GeForce2 Ultra.
Take
note that this is not a GeForce2 Ultra review.
Some of you may wonder why a CPU scaling guide
came out first before Planet Savage's first GeForce2
Ultra Review...well, this article will help me
decide on what cpu to use on the GeForce2 Ultra
as to not produce a useless review due to hardware
limitations. This performance test is also
the first in the Philippines. Yes, I beat
everybody to testing how a GeForce2 Ultra performs
and making an article out of it...not to mention
we're just a small organization.
With
that said, let's start with the test system.
Test
System
AMD
Athlon 1.13GHz
AMD Athlon 850MHz
AMD Duron 850MHz
AMD Duron 600MHz
Abit KT7A
256MB CAS2 PC133 SDRAM
NVIDIA GeForce2 Ultra 64MB SDRAM (250/460)
Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live! Value
20.4GB Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 60 7200RPM ATA100
HDD
Windows
98SE
DX8a
Detonator 11.01
VIA 4.29a Driver Set
The
Duron 600 represents the low end system while
the Athlon 850 and Duron 850 both represent the
average system and the Athlon 1.13GHz represents
the high end system. While some may argue that
the 1.13GHz isn't really the fastest, it is the
fastest available locally because I haven't seen
any C-type Athlon 1.2GHz Athlons. The Athlon 1.13GHz
is definitely faster than the B-type 1.2GHz Athlon
because of the faster fsb. Maybe I'll use a 1.4GHz
Athlon for the first GeForce2 Ultra review...
