Higher
core clock speeds would definitely yield a higher
fill rate but the extra fill rate also requires
a higher memory bandwidth in order to used properly.
The MX400 does not have that memory bandwidth
in order to fully use the fill rate it has...and
same goes for the MX200.
Final
Words
The
bundle and box of the Siluro series is a very
good one. For one thing, you get the complete
stuff you need for you to use the tv-out of the
card and the manual is pretty easy to follow.
The box (no pics) comes in a very handy and convenient
manner. Very easy to carry and eye-catching. Kudos
to Abit and their team.
The
MX400 and the MX200 are good cards although they
do not really justify their prices. The MX400
in particular will be priced significantly higher
than the original MX but will give just about
the same performance. It's more reasonable to
just go with a GeForce2 GTS 32MB variant than
the 64MB MX400. Both cards will have their places
in the market quite easily since the original
MX is going soon.
It's
hard to judge a non-production board but still,
Abit makes a pretty catchy card. Catchy in the
looks department but I suppose their performance
is just about the same since Abit follows the
reference design and specifications very closely...something
that isn't really expected of them. The name Abit
still is an attention-drawer thanks to their highly
successful overclocking motherboards and you can
expect the Siluros to be of high quality even
if not high performing. At any rate, you can't
really go wrong with the GeForce2 MX but as much
as possible, stay away from the MX200 and if possible,
go with the original MX 32MB over the MX400 64MB.
Your money on the original MX would seem to be
utilized better than the MX400 64MB.
