Conclusion

The 845D chipset might not have the same impact as the venerable 440BX but it still does the job very well. For a first DDR chipset of Intel, they did very well on this one. The 845D chipset brings very good performance for users without having them break an arm and leg just to purchase a motherboard and memory. Best of all, DDR solutions are becoming more and more popular so switching from one chipset to another won't be too hard anymore.

The 4BDA is a very good motherboard for a few reasons: it performs very well, it is simple and it isn't too expensive. Not much was initially expected from the motherboard but after seeing it perform at the same level as the Asus P4B266-C, opinions were changed. The 4BDA has a lot of potential and is a very open board to play with. The lack of DDR voltage adjustments is something that may need some checking first because some DDR memory can run at high bus speeds with the help of some boost in the voltage. BIOS tweaks are there and Epox surely did not miss out on the necessary stuff. The 4BDA does give CPU voltage adjustments up to 1.85v so that's one thing definitely worth checking. Overall, the board offers a very good price-to-performance ratio. It's stable, it's fast and it's inexpensive. There are many boards to choose from but the 4BDA is definitely worth checking first.
